Crates

This morning I did another basic modeling and texturing exercise, where I modeled one crate and duplicated it twice and set up two UVs on a 1012 by 1012 UV map. I initially attempted a 512 by 512 UV map, but it was to restricting for the model. I was only able to fit one set of UVs on it and the quality of the texture would have been low. Looking at the finished map now I can see I could have layed the UVs out more effectively to fit four crate UVs on the one map rather than just the two. This would allow for more differentiating textures on each of the duplicated models. The texture itself benefited having the UV map lines as part of the final texture as it gave more structure to the crates wooden panels.
